Lou's birthday is Tuesday, but being parents of a practical nature, we had the party on Saturday. Lou has started to anticipate things that excite him, so he's been ready for his birthday party for a good month. We've had practice parties just about every day, with wooden blocks serving as cake.

Since he's been so excited about his very own party, I made some extra efforts. Up until now, his parties have really been to please the adults in his family. This one was all for him. We put up balloons and crepe paper. I made a special dragon cake (two hours to decorate this beast!). I think the atmosphere pleased him more than any of the gifts. He was the star of the day.

But crap, guys, now to keep up in the Mommy Wars I'm going to need to make some kind of birthday cake castle with working drawbridges to beat that dragon! Better start working on it now if it's going to be done by July...
