One and a Half

Last Saturday was the occassion of Lou's 18 month birthday. Coincidentally, the grandparents showed up at our doorstep that very morning, to deliver the world's smallest bicycle to one lucky boy. Lou was delighted, but the delight quickly degraded to frustration. He was still too small to reach the pedals, and stability was lacking, since he could only inch himself along on the tips of his toes. He fell multiple times, but he would try again. About two hours and several head injuries later, the parents used their executive authority to hide the bike well out of view for another few months.

No need to shed too many tears for the young tot, though. Do you think we would take away his bicycle without a proper replacement?
