Since we started solid foods, Loulou has been an ideal kind of eater. Not that he eats a lot, but he does eat what I give him, and he has been completely open to new flavors. Menu planning has been a dream – he gets 2 fruits, 2 vegetables, yogurt, meat, cereal, and 4 oz of juice every day. And he eats it! Whatever I give him, he accepts! No worrying that he will starve. No nightly imploring of the deities to please let him eat something that does not have 564 grams of sugar per serving. No need to smother his meals in ketchup and hide his vegetables in chocolate sauce. In this respect, I won the baby lottery.
Except, change most of the above paragraph to past tense. And the lottery? It was a big sham, devised by some Scandanavian hacker with the intent to steal my identity.
That’s right, Lou only was a great eater. Until about four days ago, when suddenly, he had a revelation that everything that came off of a spoon was disgusting. Then he started gagging on his peas, batting at spoonfuls of pureed sweet potatoes, screaming at the sight of meats, and splatter painting his mother a new shade of vegetable in the process. Oh and cereal? Cereal’s for dummies. Yogurt is made out of dog puke. The juice tastes like rancid, rotting fruit mixed with opossum urine.

I am sincerely hoping that this is related to his recent New Years illness. I am praying that it’s just a passing phase. I noticed this evening that the boy was covered in a spotty mystery rash – so there must still be something going on with the immune system (though he appears otherwise well…gulp…).
Oh please let it be so, oh please let it be so…

Your kid has a sippy cup already?
Woman, your proactive parenting sickens me.

Poor Loulou, little guy has been so sick that all the good stuff taste bad. Well grandma can relate, because she was ill as well and the only thing with flavor was Pizza Hut Supreme pizza. really just the onions an green peppers. If he doesn't start eating soon you could call them for some carry-out! The walking video was fabulous...we're so proud of our number one grandson, we have been watching it over and over again.
Love,
Mom

Probably NOT a phase; he's expressing his independence a little early. Wow, almost time for the birthday party! By the way, Shannon will have a sibling by the end of July - she'll be 22 months. Amber says not an "accident", just a "surprise".
