Heaven Help Us
Things are not looking good lately. For the past several days, Loulou had been engaging in some pretty undesirable behavior. I’d like to think it’s a simple case of a few bad-influence friends. But he doesn’t have any friends. So he must be mimicking our behavior. Why, oh why, weren’t we more careful?!
Oh well, wherever he learned it, it seems like it’s here to stay.
What’s been going on? Well, allow me to inform you. There has been a lot of free standing going on. A lot of creeping along the furniture on his little frog legs going on. A lot of taking a couple steps before he falls down to a crawl going on. I’m sure it can only mean one thing…
Walking! Soon!
I’m scared .
Help me .
I realize most parents look forward to Baby’s first steps. Well, we have enough on our plates. We can barely keep up to the pace of his crawl. And do you know how much destruction a crawling baby can wreak? I’d rather not imagine what a walking baby can do, let alone a running one! The downtime from one mess to another will be cut in half! I’ll never be able to manage the chaos. The bookshelves will become useless, empty pieces of furniture. The dogs will become neurotic.
Pray for the Savarese family, dear friends. I feel it is the beginning of the end.

And of course, you know what’s next…the only thing worse than walking…
Dare I say it…
It will catch you by surprise…one day, when you’re trying to convince him to eat strained spinach…”Mother, dear, we really must discuss this. Really, it’s to your benefit you don’t feed me this sort of thing. Candy and cookies digest so much more nicely. Do you really enjoy changing green, smelly diapers?”
He is a genius, after all.
One step, two step, and then it’s off to the race. After the walking come’s climbing. The dinning room chairs make great ladders and they move so gracefully across the hardwood, consider carpet at least it will slow things down. Also cabinet draws pulled out one-by-one, another excellent resource for reaching things that are just a little to far back on the counters. My advice…….nail everything down. If you have anything of value take it to a vault for safe keeping, it will be years before the destruction and mass chaos will end….at least 17 or 18.
Love,
Mom
