A Day in the life of Loulou

by Jessica on July 23rd, 2005

(or Look at my baby! Look at him!)
6:30am – Rise and Shine! Mother has taken the habit of escaping to guestroom, leaving more-difficult-to-wake-up father to listen to pterodactyl-like screeching for the next hour. Think of it as your alarm clock, honey! (note to childless friends: you will never sleep late again.)
8am – Breakfast #1.
8:30am – Walk around the neighborhood. Mother suspiciously eyes all passers-by. Who wouldn’t want to steal The Cutest Baby in the World, after all?

LouLouBath.jpg9am – Bath, involving much comical splashing and chewing on Mr. Duckie (No I did not strategically place that washcloth there! He’s modest!).
10am – Breakfast #2.
12pm - Lunch #1.
1pm – Play with neglect-o-matics, err, intellectually stimulating battery-powered toys.

2pm – Lunch #2 – Solid Food! (or as LouLou likes to think of it- Body paint!)
LouLouNap.jpg2:30-4pm – Sweet, sweet sleep. Mother is also exhausted, but baby will only sleep in arms. Mother sleeps also, in the rocking chair, with her body contorted in an unnatural position. Mother later wonders why her neck hurts.
4pm – Lunch #3 (note: Babies with this eating pattern are known as “snackers.” Snackers are statistically more likely to drive their parents insane.)
LouLouDaddy.jpg5:30pm – Father returns home. Quickly finds himself bombarded with baby. Mother exits scene with a bottle of wine and a sleazy romance novel. Father’s attempts to read the newspaper are thwarted by paper-eating baby.
7pm – Dinner time and off to sleepyland.
7pm – 6:30am – Wake every 2-6 hours, according to mood (note to childless friends: you will never sleep again. Period.).

Pour ceux qui ne sont pas familier avec la langue de… (voyons.. cha-que-speu-areu) …Shakespeare, voici donc une courte traduction:
7h00: Papa est reveillé par les vocalises de Bébé. Maman a disparu.

  2. “you will never sleep late again”… N’empêche, tu pars au taf à 9h30, quand même ! :o)

Thank you for your baby story. It made me laugh, since my day is exactly like yours (except for my hubby is deployed so I don’t get that 5:30 bottle of wine! AHHHH!!!!) Well I guess I better go before Gabriel gets electricuted. He’s under my desk playing with the wires. *Sigh*
